Sevilla revives from nowhere against Manchester United

A carom by Jesús Navas, who played in Malacia and De Gea before entering, and a header from En-Nesyri that bounced off Harry Maguire’s head, give life to the Sevillawho was recovering with those touches of luck from Marcel Sabitzer’s double and traveled to Sánchez Pizjuán with the Europa League semifinals on the horizon (2-2).

José Luis Mendilíbar’s men were clearly surpassed at Old Trafford by a Manchester United that he made his favorite poster good and that, in addition to Sabitzer’s two goals in a space of six minutes, he had a shot against Antony’s crossbar and enough chances to have taken a more scandalous result for the second leg. However, five minutes from time, Navas placed a cross that bounced off two players before coming on and En-Nesyri, in injury time, shot towards the corner flag, but Maguire deflected the header away from De Gea.

Los Red Devils, for 85 minutes, they did not allow Sevilla to feel the heat of their competition and they were quickly imprisoned, with no option for a rebellion. With seconds on the scoreboard, Sancho had a goal disallowed for offside and before the tenth minute Antony had already tested a good mitt from Bono. United smelled the goal and it was not one of those nights in which dominance does not translate into effectiveness. At the first quarter of an hour, after a long combination of the English, Bruno Fernandes -who will miss the return due to accumulation of yellow cards- he broke a line with a through pass, Sabitzer he made a hole with his body and fired a shot that Macao deflected and passed over Bono.

1-0 and United did not need even six minutes to continue the goal. This time it was Anthony Martial, replacement for Marcus Rashford, who acted as a catalyst. The Frenchman stole the ball in midfield and calmly drove up to three quarters. There he stopped, looked up and saw the uncheck inside Sabitzer. He slipped the ball in, received the Austrian and beat Bono. And Sevilla had to give thanks because the VAR, a few moments later, did not want to expel Erik Lamela for nailing the studs to Casemiro. From the little that the Sevillians could celebrate, together with a header from Nianzou in the first half stoppage time that De Gea took off first in a display of reflexes and then Early on the goal line.

The French central defender was injured in the first half and was substituted at half-time, but that did not change the fate of a Sevilla that was even more convalescing in the second 45 minutes.

Antony, in a 30-meter run that ended with a shot against the crossbar, was able to seal the tie, as was Anthony Elanga, with a free-for-all shot from the penalty spot, but they let Sevilla escape alive, five minutes from time gave the bell A pass behind the defense was terribly defended by Malaciawhich left the door open to Jesus Navas. The winger looked for the center, but the ball bounced off Malacia first and then De Gea and went into the net.

Undeserved, but 2-1 went up on the scoreboard and allowed Sevilla to come up and make the English suffer, who had to bail out their waters and see De Gea make the save of the game with a header En-Nesyri. It was a warning of what would come seconds later, when another shot from the Moroccan was deflected to goal by Maguire, completely clueless.

The 2-2 leaves Sevilla more than alive, which was resurrected from nothing and can surprise the favorites to eliminate the title within a week at home.
