In addition to the missed win in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League, Manchester United also have to complain about two failures. The two central defenders Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane were injured in the 2-2 (2-0) win against Sevilla FC on Thursday.
Argentinian world champion Martinez broke his metatarsal bone in the finish and has to end the season prematurely. France’s Varane was substituted at half-time with a right leg injury and will be sidelined for a few weeks.
Meanwhile, Marcel Sabitzer had done a lot of self-promotion with his two goals for Manchester United. However, with two late goals conceded, it was an evening of roller coaster rides of emotions.
