Rugby World Cup: 5,000 temporary positions to be filled

It’s the last straight line. The Rugby World Cup begins in less than 160 days, on September 8 at the Stade de France with the France-New Zealand opener. 47 other matches will follow in 51 days in 9 stadiums, until the final at the same venue on October 28. “An exceptional competition, 51 days of great popular celebration”, for which the organizers will be on time, assures the president of France 2023, Jacques Rivoal.

In recent weeks, it remains to launch the recruitment of 5,000 temporary workers who will work on the event. This is the objective of the partnership signed on Friday between France 2023 and the firm Proman, official recruiter for the Rugby World Cup.

If you are interested in contributing to the organization of the World Cup, recruitment begins in April. Appointment on the Proman websiteon the MyProman Interimaires app or in one of the Proman agencies (there are some in the ten host cities of the World Cup: Paris, Saint-Denis, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, Nantes, Nice, Saint-Étienne, Lille and Toulouse).

Cordistes and désoiffeurs

“There are needs in all areas,” detailed Roland Gomez, president of Proman. Essentially in 4 sectors of activity: transport and logistics, reception and sales, hotels and restaurants, as well as construction and public works. This covers trades such as driver or handler, receptionist or cashier, cook or dishwasher, or more specialized profiles such as rope access technician or nacelle operator, to set up the facilities linked to the event.

The organizing committee is also looking for… “soakers”, those agents with a supply of drinks on their backs who serve the glasses of rugby fans! Of the 5,000 temporary workers, most (1,550) will be recruited in Ile-de-France, which concentrates 10 matches in Saint-Denis, including the opening and the final. If the experience can be interesting, know however that these recruitments remain interim. “The proposed contracts will range from a few days to two months, but the average duration can be estimated at 1 week,” said Roland Gomez.

No worries about security

With these 5,000 temporary workers, the World Cup will be complete, having already recruited 1,300 apprentices and 4,600 volunteer volunteers. “We won’t have a problem recruiting because the particularity of our event is that it is spread over two months, not during the summer. (as for the Olympics-2024, editor’s note) and in nine stadiums, so we are not worried, ”assured Jacques Rivoal.

On security in particular, the boss of the 2023 World Cup wants to be reassuring. “We are not at all worried because in fact we have to put the event into perspective: the biggest peak of the competition will be the first weekend and, in terms of mobilization of security resources, that corresponds to one day of Ligue 1 football. So it’s something completely mastered, current, ”he said.
