Notice to clubs, business to be seized: KV Ostend has some players worthy of the D1A

KV Ostend is officially relegated, and even for sale. On the player side, we imagine that some will do everything not to go down to the Challenger Pro League with their club…

Even in a relegated team, there are always players who manage to stand out and give their club a chance in the fight to stay. This was the case at RFC Seraing (read our squad review here); this is also the case in KV Ostendofficially in the Challenger Pro League.

Thierry Ambrose (26 ans, 8 buts, 4 assists)

He is the biggest market value of the club, and its top scorer this season: it is hard to imagine Thierry Ambrose make old bones on the Coast, especially given his contract only running until 2024. Already this winter, Hull City were interested in him and the KVO were not opposed to a departure.

This time, the former Manchester City youngster will clearly be on his way. A case ? Ambrose is still estimated at 1.8 million euros, although it is doubtful that Ostend is in a position to claim as much.

Maxime D’Arpino (26, back from injury)

Without his very heavy injury last year, where would Maxime D’Arpino ? The Frenchman is probably the biggest talent in the Ostend nucleus. The club showed their support by offering him a long-term contract (until 2026) shortly after his serious injury, and D’Arpino can thank them in two ways: by staying in D1B, or by bringing in a nice sum.

The versatile midfielder, armed with one of the most beautiful right legs in the championship, is indeed barely back from injury: can he immediately have an impact in another club? We would be tempted to say yes… and that a Belgian club would be well advised to think about it.

Nick Bätzner (23 ans, 6 buts, 5 assists)

If Ostend has hoped for better this season, it is largely thanks to Nick Bätzner. The German was already an important starter last season but “took advantage” of Maxime D’Arpino’s injury to become the technical leader of KVO. His goals and his assists have too often been useless, but in a more solid collective, Bätzner seems to have real room for improvement.

Under contract until 2024, he is estimated at 1.3 million euros. Perhaps the best deal within the core, whose ceiling is difficult to estimate.

Guillaume Hubert (29, end of contract)

Who wants an experienced goalie? Guillaume Hubert will be free at the end of this season, and a goalkeeper with more than 120 games of experience in D1A is a plus for almost every D1A team in need of boards (a promoted, for example). Hubert can also be an accommodating No. 2 who can lead to a locker room. A case not to be underestimated.

Robbie D’Haese (24 years old, 100 matches in D1A)

A quality right back is always in short supply. Robbie D’Haese lived a season made up of ups and downs, but with 100 games in his legs, great versatility (he knows how to play on the left side), the Belgian nationality that is sometimes so much sought after and seemingly a real margin of progress, he can be a very good deal around 500,000 euros.

Tatsuhiro Sakamoto: a Japanese international to seize

It is very difficult to imagine Tatsuhiro Sakamoto dive with KV Ostend in the Challenger Pro League. The Japanese has 2 caps with the Blue Samurai and is estimated at 1.2 million euros but given the high rating of his compatriots in D1A, he should find something to suit him.

With 7 assists from his position on the left flank for his first season in Belgium (he arrived last summer from Ozaka), Sakamoto is the best passer in the Côtiers where it was nevertheless difficult to flourish. It would be a waste to miss it…
