Not just Sky and DAZN: Amazon and Mediaset in the race for Serie A

The Lega Serie A plan to split nine matches a day between Sky and DAZN effectively leaves out one match per round. A match which, explains Repubblica, would in fact be the second choice: not the most important match of the day, but precisely the second. Basically, for example, on the day of Juventus-Napoli it could be an Inter or Milan match, depending on the decisions of the broadcasters.

A tender that, in the League’s plans, would be sold exclusively to a third platform compared to Sky and DAZN. Which could be? There are two names that circulate the most in terms of interest in this third possible package: we are talking about Amazon and Mediaset.

For Prime Video it would, in fact, be a replica of what has already been done in recent years in the Champions League: in fact, from 2021 it broadcasts a match from the former Champions Cup exclusively every day, with a limited outlay and with positive results. The idea could thus be to replicate the same situation in the championship, perhaps taking the match on Saturday or Sunday evening at 20.45.

However, it cannot be excluded that, considering the potentially reduced outlay, Mediaset could also enter the game. The broadcaster of the snake between the Champions League and the Italian Cup seems to be happy with how the football product has developed in recent years, even if it remains to be seen whether the platform to be indicated can be clear or not.

The value of this tenth match per day, after the nine kits between Sky and DAZN, could be around 100 million euros per year:
