Nice, the disaster scenario

OGC Nice suffered the law of FC Basel this Thursday in the quarter-final return of the Conference League (1-2, after extra time).

The last square held out its arms to them. A first in the club’s history on the continental scene. A week after a frustrating draw in Switzerland (2-2), the Gym was surprised at home by FC Basel (1-2), Thursday evening, in the quarter-final second leg of the Conference League. At the end of a match which the Aiglons had however had full control for a long time.

It took no more than nine minutes for Laborde to find the fault and launch his own as it should. A logical advantage when the Niçois unfortunately did not know how to double, exposing themselves therefore to a bad surprise. In the last moments of regulation time, it was a French striker who came off the bench, Augustin, who struck this bad blow, with a powerful strike from the right (1-1, 86e).

Prolongation fatale

The extension thus snatched, the Baslers were able to make the difference mentally, aggressively, by Adams of the head (1-2, 98e). Brahimi hit wood on a free kick afterwards (107e), but the reaction of pride of the Azureans stopped there. For the OGCN, this is indeed a huge disappointment, coupled with a disaster scenario for French football. In the evening, Alkmaar overthrew Anderlecht to win their place in the semi-finals of this Conference League. A very bad operation in the Franco-Dutch duel at the UEFA index.
