The coach of the Sacramento Kings, Mike Brown, has been chosen as the best of the 2022-2023 NBA season, a campaign in which he has led his team to the ‘playoffs’ by the ring for the first time since 2005- 2006.
Brown, who has received this distinction for the second time in his career after achieving it in 2008-2009 when he coached the Cleveland Cavaliers, unanimously beat Mark Daigneault of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Joe Mazzulla of the Boston Celtics.
In this way, the Ohio coach becomes the eleventh in NBA history to win this award more than once after Pat Riley, Gregg Popovich and Don Nelson, who won it three times, and Gene Shue, Bill Fitch, Hubie Brown, Cotton Fitzsimmons, Mike D’Antoni, Tom Thibodeau and Mike Budenholzer, who like him did it in two.
The Kings had a 48-34 Regular Season mark, the seventh-best record in the league and allowing them to be in the top seven for the first time since 2003-2004. In addition, they led the NBA in points per game, had the best road record in the Western Conference, snapped a streak of 16 consecutive losing seasons, and won a division title for the first time since 2003.
