Mía Mainardi, the story of the first Argentine gymnast to win the world

Argentina was the focus of all the flashes after winning gold in the Youth World Cup. Today she celebrates her 15th birthday.

Mía Mainardi is an Argentine gymnast who gained great popularity by obtaining one of the best results in the history of Argentina in rhythmic gymnastics. It is that she, at only 14 years old, won the gold medal in jumping at the Junior World Cup.

But his sports career goes back 10 years, when he accompanied his mother to look for his sister at the River Plate club. There it was the eyes of a teacher who saw Mía’s potential for artistic gymnastics and she started in the sport as a game.

Already at the age of seven, her coach would be Mariano Pochini, the same one who was by her side when she became world champion, in Antalya, Turkey.

Mía Mainardi’s great debut in the Argentine artistic gymnastics team was at the Rosario 2022 South American Youth Games. On that occasion she was one of the figures of the national delegation, she won a total of four medals. Among them the gold ones in all around, vault and floor, also the silver one in the team competition.

His most recent and most important achievement was his world coronation in vault, where he was the first with a note of 13.383. She was also in the asymmetrical final where she was sixth and together with Isabella Ajalla and Emilia Acosta they obtained fifth place in teams.
