Menpora Here Ariotedjo make sure Israel does not follow in ANOC World Beach Games (AWBG) which is planned to be held August 5-12 2023 in Bali.

“It’s safe. There’s no problem, the Olympic Committee has released the participating countries on April 27. I didn’t see Israel’s name. So there’s no polemic,” Dito said as quoted by Antara.

“So clear there will be no objections,” he added.

Today, Friday (28/4) the Chef de Mission (CdM) Meeting of the ANOC World Beach Games 2023 took place. In the released list there are 69 countries and there is no Israel.

In the CdM Meeting, the local implementing committee or Indonesia ANOC WBG Organizing Committee will present the readiness of the host, including the arena, accommodation, transportation, and others.

The ANOC World Beach Games is planned to be attended by around 1,600 athletes from 130 countries.

The holding of the ANOC World Beach Games in Bali was under scrutiny due to Governor I Wayan Koster’s rejection of the Israeli contingent.

After rejecting Israel at the 2023 U-20 World Cup, which resulted in the cancellation of the junior level World Cup in Indonesia, Koster also refused to represent the country at the ANOC WBG.

Menpora Dito and Governor Koster had met to equalize perceptions on Friday (14/4). After the meeting there was controversy because Dito said that Koster had supported the implementation of the AWBG, but a day later Koster stated that he had consistently rejected Israel as an AWBG contestant.
