In one half, the Cavaliers sink the Knicks and revive!

NBA – In steamroller mode, under the impetus of a super Darius Garland (32 points and 7 assists), the Cleveland players had a 20-point lead from the break and therefore spent a quiet evening (107-90 ).

What a reaction! Dominated in Game 1 in physical intensity, the Cavaliers actually learned the lesson last night, by sticking a violent slap to the Knicks.

Eager to counter-attack in the physical fight, after the setback of the first set, the teammates of a Darius Garland sensational (32 points and 7 assists) struck first, especially in the energy deployed in defense, and thus secured a 20-point lead from the break!

The gap even went up to +29 (!) in the second half, a sign of a match mastered from start to finish by the Ohio squad (49% on shots including 42% from behind the arc, in particular), who already had no room for error.

Caught at the entrance throat, the Knickswhose displayed face was very disappointing after a successful first run, they quickly sank, in absolutely all areas of play, and the final note is salty.

After this superb reaction from Clevelandso here we are at one everywhere in the series, which will continue at the end of the week at New Yorkfor Game 3 and 4. With, this time, an expected reaction from the Knicks.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

The Knicks forgot to play… The challenge was enough to motivate them: a second victory and the Knicks made the break, before continuing the series in New York. But Tom Thibodeau’s men did the opposite: they forgot to offer the best version of themselves. Worse, they offered one of the worst versions: the one who defended very badly, attacked horribly badly (17 ball losses for 16 assists, for 32 points conceded on these ball losses) and protected the rebounds (54-44 in favor of Cleveland ). In short, who did nothing good. There is nothing positive to take away from this Game 2 for the players in New York, who are losing their “momentum” built up after a convincing Game 1. It was only a game, missed in this case, which can happen, so let’s avoid hasty conclusions. But it is obvious that everything is now to be redone for the Knicks. Nothing better than two upcoming games at Madison Square Garden for that…

…unlike the Cavaliers. Obliged to react under penalty of finding themselves already with their backs to the wall, the Cavaliers did indeed understand the challenge of the meeting and proceeded accordingly. After a few minutes of start-up in the first quarter, JB Bickerstaff’s men then shifted into fifth gear and never took their foot off the accelerator, against a New York formation which showed its worst face. . The Cavaliers have trampled the Knicks, in the way, up and down, and across, simply put.

TOPS/FLOPS

Darius Garland. Each his turn: after Donovan Mitchell in Game 1, this time it was “DG the PG” who signed an offensive card, in this Game 2. Appearing in a super rhythm from the first possessions of the meeting, the leader of Cleveland unfolded, especially in the first half with 26 of his 32 points, and set the pace for this huge slap collectively given by his team to that of New York.

Evan Mobley. Jostled by Julius Randle in the first game, the young Cavaliers strong winger showed the best by gaining more respect in the racket: a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds, not to mention 2 steals and 2 blocks. Bodes well for both his personal confidence and the Cavaliers’ collective cap going forward in the series.

⛔️ Les Knicks. We can’t back it up enough: the New York club played a horribly disappointing game by any standards. Day and night compared to his first outing in this series, and in this Game 3 will be very important in defining the Knicks’ state of mind and ability to react and recover…
