“I don’t understand why I was brought to the Bucks”

When Jae Crowder arrived in Milwaukee, at the trade deadline, his addition was supposed to be decisive. It had to be some kind of new P.J. Tucker, who had, in 2021, played a decisive role in the crowning of the Bucks. Finally, his arrival will be rather anecdotal.

Crowder, transferred to Wisconsin in February in exchange for several second-round draft picks, had no say in the series against the Heat. After three matches at 13.6 minutes on average, the winger disappeared. He didn’t play in Game 4, before spending 18 seconds on the floor in Game 5, when the Bucks were eliminated.

“I have never been in a situation like this”he confessed, confused, to the Journal Sentinel this Friday. “In 11 years, look at my CV, I’ve always played. I didn’t expect these DNPs (did not play).”

The team of Giannis Antetokounmpo was not the only one on the case and the bidding to recover the former Suns player was intense. Jon Horst, president of franchise operations, had even described this process as one of the “most incredible and difficult” that he had participated in to recover a player. Everything indicated, in this context, that Jae Crowder would have a card to play.

The winger therefore struggles to understand why Milwaukee made this transfer if it was to get him out of the rotation. “I don’t understand why I was brought here. I don’t know my purpose here”he regretted.

Jae Crowder wants to stay at the Bucks regardless

Despite this disappointing season, the winger would like to stay in Milwaukee. Provided that everything goes well during the off-season, of course, especially on the contractual level.

“I would like to (re-sign), because in the locker room, it’s a great group of guys who put the work first and then have fun”explained Crowder. “I can work in this type of environment and I really appreciate the way my teammates have welcomed me. From day one, it’s been love on that side.”
