Antony still hasn’t shone in the Premier League with Manchester United. Former MU striker Andy Cole was even excited to see his game.
Antony was brought in by MU from Ajax last summer to become a mainstay on the right sector. But so far he still hasn’t really appeared convincing.
From 16 appearances in the Premier League, the 23-year-old winger has only scored three goals and has yet to have an assist. He was criticized by a number of former MU players, including Andy Cole, because his game was so-so.
Antony is considered to have no element of surprise because he almost always moves to cut into the middle to rely on his left foot. So that the game becomes easy to read.
“If I were a striker in this Manchester United team and saw Antony playing on the right, I would be excited. Because I know I will never get a cross from his right foot,” said Andy Cole, reported by Football365.
“If I go into the box I won’t expect anything because he always turns to his left foot. The game has changed now and what managers want from their players is different.”
“Antony had a difficult first season in the Premier League. He is starting to find his footing, but I don’t think he expected the Premier League to be this difficult.”
“Now the defenders who face him know that there is no element of surprise anymore. Because he always wants to return to his left side,” said the scorer of 121 goals in 275 appearances with MU.
