he gets stabbed after trying to interrupt an urban rodeo

A man in his thirties was stabbed on Sunday after trying to interrupt an urban rodeo in his neighborhood in Brest. The prosecution has opened an investigation.

“It lasted a minute or two and they left.” Sylvain Gaillard, a 30-year-old from Brest, was beaten up on Sunday after trying to interrupt an urban rodeo. While the young wheel enthusiasts were “razing the playgrounds” where the children were, the soldier came out of his house to ask them to stop. “They said to me: ‘There is no problem, we are coming back'”, he says at the microphone of RMC.

“They came back with twenty young people, a baseball bat, tear gas and a knife”

A few minutes later, they return, “with twenty young people, a baseball bat, a tear gas and a knife”. Sylvain was beaten and stabbed just outside his home in the Bellevue district. Taken to the hospital, his vital prognosis is not engaged but the soldier keeps traces: a large coquard and several stitches in the head and the buttocks.

“We just want to have peace”

Since then, he has seen the shutters closed and fears possible reprisals. “We just want to have peace. As I think, all the neighbors… They just want to be able to take their children out quietly,” he confides. Because this is not the first time that the inhabitants of this district have been confronted with urban rodeos.

In the same tower building, Mina’s windows overlook a long straight line. And almost every evening, she attends, powerless, the races of motorcycles, cars and quads. “They don’t care, they are in their well-being,” laments this neighbor. Worried, she even decided to sell her apartment. “I’m going to leave because it’s no longer possible.” Problem: these nuisances scare away potential buyers.

At the moment, the alleged attackers are still at large. An investigation has been opened by the Brest prosecutor’s office.
