Former national basketball team Mario Torres was run over and killed in the early hours of Monday, April 24, in the 3rd. west street in the municipality of Cojutepeque, in the department of Cuscatlán.
After being recognized by the authorities, the body was transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine.
Torres, who was known among his classmates and friends as “el Payaso”, was also a physical education teacher. He joined the national basketball team in 1988 and was the first cojutepecano to reach the national team.
The Salvadoran Basketball Federation and its president, Yamil Bukele, mourned the death of the former team and sent their condolences to the family.
The remains were veiled on Monday night in the Esdras de Cojutepeque temple, where a cult was held.
