The Bayern bosses had fired Julian Nagelsmann because they saw the goals of the season in danger. There were three more.
Now even the final target, the championship, is shaky, especially since Dortmund has confidently taken the lead. Thomas Tuchel got off to a catastrophic start (two wins in the first seven games) that only Sören Lerby has managed so far in 1991/1992. The Lerby record was actually considered unbreakable…
According to their own goal logic, Bayern would have to part with Tuchel.
Just an idea: You could declare Tuchel’s obligation a misunderstanding or an April Fool’s joke – and bring Nagelsmann back. He still has to be paid anyway, Chelsea canceled and had a lot of time.
Of course Messrs. Hainer, Kahn and Salihamidzic will not do that.
And yes, the main cause of Mainz’s meltdown was the players.
They managed the 1-0 lead as if they wanted to avoid a drop of sweat and go home without a shower.
They fell apart as a team like a run-of-the-mill Schluffi squad.
The national players Müller, Kimmich, Goretzka were total failures (all BamS grade 6).
In the past, Bayern would have turned things back after the equalizer. The pros used to fear the wrath of Uli Hoeneß just as much as they loved his compassionate nature. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge used to solve crises.
Today the same vacuum prevails in the executive floor as in the center forward position.
Internally it says: Nobody listens to President Hainer. CEO Kahn doesn’t say much. And whether Salihamidzic makes the bunch back to real FC Bayern?
Maybe you have to think the unthinkable in Munich: bring Uli Hoeneß back! Without a new post, but with the power of his personality and until the end of the season. Until the top has rearranged itself.
One wonders how Uli Hoeneß endured the leadership crisis on the pitch and in the executive suite of his FC Bayern in the quiet of Lake Tegernsee.
There is enough to do on Säbener Straße …
