Olympic gold and bronze medalist in snowboard cross Eva Adamczyková, formerly Samková, is celebrating her 30th birthday. She liked winter sports, she could hardly stand on her feet. At the age of six, snowboarding won her hands down and she never let go of the board. Her sports career is full of ups and downs. What are the biggest life milestones of one of the most successful Czech sportswomen?

She started skiing at the age of two and switched to snowboarding at the age of six. She originally started as a freestyle snowboarder, but gradually found her way to snowboard cross, which she has been doing since 2008. Among her biggest achievements in junior age are three wins at the junior world championships and, most notably, a victory at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and a bronze medal from the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

Despite the fact that the Czech snowboarder is only thirty years old, her life is not only full of sunshine. She has already overcome several injuries during her sports career. Personal life full of difficult trials

While she has always been mostly successful in her sports career, she has not had it so easy in her personal life. She had to deal with the loss of both parents in a short period of time. In 2018, her father died first, and her mother two years later. Both parents were seriously ill.

The biggest support for the Olympian was the successful Czech theater and film actor Marek Adamczyk, whom Eva met in 2018 at the Světlo pro Světluška concert.

With the wedding came a name change

After four years of relationship, Eva married her boyfriend Marek Adamczyk in a picturesque place on the ridges of the Krkonoše mountains in the quiet surroundings of the Dvoračka mountain hut and Štumpovka mountain hotel. The entire wedding was kept secret until the last moment. At the same time, the snowboarder not only became a married lady, but also adopted a new name. Eva Adamczyková already shines in the starting list.

“Success is not made by a name, but by a person. From now on, my little one will bear the surname Adamczyková with pride, love and joy,” she explained why she will not follow, for example, tennis player Karolína Plíšková, who kept her maiden name in the sports environment, or Andrea Sestini Hlaváčková, who in turn opted for a double surname.
