After the farce surrounding the Houssem Aouar, the Europa League winner is now targeting Zeki Amdouni and Fares Chaibi.

From Eintracht Frankfurt’s point of view, the story with this rather unsteady boy Houssem Aouar did not go quite as planned. Not at all even. Actually, sports director Markus Krösche already agreed with the 24-year-old midfielder from Olympique Lyon, the French-Algerian player already passed the medical examination and even a welcome video is said to have already been shot in the sign of the eagle. Nice thing that.

But as it is in this business these days, you can never be too sure. Because sometimes the men’s footballers think of something completely different, then they take a written offer from a club and move on to the next one and see if there might be something else that could be saddled on top. So in terms of salary, premiums, bonus payments and earnest money, of course. To have or not to have.

That’s probably how it went with Talent Aouar, who was the absolute dream player of the Eintracht sports management and who is well known, at least as far as his footballing skills are concerned. “He’s a great player. I appreciate him very much,” says his buddy Karim Benzema about him. “He can go far.” But Eintracht was apparently not far enough for him, maybe that has something to do with the sporting sagging of the Frankfurt team and the uncertain European perspective. But maybe it’s really just about the filthy Mammon.

Despite all the preliminary talks and an agreement that has already been reached, the Frenchman will not play for Eintracht unless something extraordinary happens.

It was the case that the technician’s advisors, including his brother, continued to offer the player on the market, at AS Roma for example, after all he is available for free in the summer, which is why players and agents are offered a fat initial fee. Whether this is the fine French way of breaking one’s word remains to be seen, but such are the customs of the corrupt industry. Eintracht was not pleased with the behavior, which is understandable. But in the aftermath it is perhaps better that way, the procedure does not exactly suggest greatness of character. To put it defensively, Aouar is not necessarily easy to care for.

Since manager Markus Krösche always has several irons in the fire, as it should be for a capable manager, the 42-year-old has long been pursuing other paths. According to FR information, one leads to Toulouse, also France. There, the only 20-year-old Farés Chaibi pulls the strings in midfield. The technically gifted player, born in France with Algerian roots, has scored five goals and provided four assists in 29 Ligue 1 games. He is at home in attacking midfield, but although he is right-footed, he is often used on the left wing or half-left. He could replace Daichi Kamada, who will leave Eintracht on a free transfer.

The Frankfurt Bundesliga club should already agree with the professional, two-time Algerian international, which is good but doesn’t mean anything – Houssem Aouar sends his regards.

And FC Toulouse wants to sweeten a possible departure of the talent, the French are calling for around 15 million for the Chaibi, which is tied until 2025 and has a market value of ten million euros. Sports boss Krösche is too much, he plays poker, wants to lower the price, the Eintracht manager would probably agree with a good third of the amount demanded by Toulouse. Whether it will come to that is an open question.

And whether a 20-year-old, just completing his first year as a pro in France, would rush in to replace a Daichi Kamada right off the bat is another matter. This also applies to the other aspirant, Zeki Amdouni, 22 years young, playmaker at FC Basel. In this calendar year alone, the technician has already scored 13 goals for the top Swiss club. Eintracht observed the Swiss with Turkish roots in the Conference League game against OGC Nice last week, and he scored both goals in the 2-2 draw.

Amdouni is on loan from FC Lausanne, but Basel have a purchase option that they will also draw. This is exactly why the good man is not exactly cheap, the Swiss will call for more than ten million euros. Not necessarily a bargain.
