Ituma, 18, fell from the sixth floor of her hotel room in Istanbul, according to local police, quoted by Turkish media.

Troubled after a phone call

The tragedy occurred a few hours after the Champions League semi-final against the Turkish team Eczacibas, lost on Wednesday by Novara (Piedmont, north-west) 3 to 0.

His body was discovered around 5:30 a.m. Thursday outside the hotel on the Asian side of Istanbul, according to the Turkish daily Daily Sabah.

Hotel surveillance cameras show her returning to her room down the hall, visibly troubled, around 11:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, after a long phone call.

The shocked Italian team was seen leaving the hotel late in the morning, television reported.

Julia Ituma, from Nigeria and born in Milan, played at the point position and was crowned world champion under 20 in 2021.
