D1 Arkema: PSG provides the essentials against Bordeaux, OL thrashes Le Havre

The challenge was simple: win and get up after the painful elimination in the Champions League, under penalty of being left behind, perhaps definitively, in the title race by the great Rhone rival. At Saint-Germain against the Girondins de Bordeaux, this Sunday afternoon, the PSG players provided the essentials (1-0).

As for their competitors Lyonnaises, it was for Gérard Prêcheur’s daughters the redemption match, three days after being rejected at the gates of the semi-finals of the Champions League by Wolfsburg. In front of a compact audience on the ground of the Georges-Lefèvre stadium, next to the Camp des Loges, the Parisiennes went for their 5th victory in a row in the Championship after a match dominated from start to finish.

Traoré goalscorer just after coming into play

The Bordeaux women also seem very happy to reach the break without having conceded the opener. From the 9th minute, Sandy Baltimore sends a powerful shot from 25 m, from the left, on the crossbar. Unhappy, the Dutch Lieke Mertens, in difficulty this season, has several opportunities to catch the frame but she lacks precision.

Under the eyes of Hervé Renard, the new coach of the Bleues, it was not until the 55th minute for the opener signed Manssita Traoré: entering barely two minutes earlier, she was perfectly served in front of goal by Sakina Karchaoui (1- 0.55e). Despite a few timid chances at the end of the match, the Parisiennes were content with this short, but precious, success in the race for the title.

Two finals against Lyon in May

Because at the competition, we did not make any details this Sunday afternoon. Received on the lawn of the Océane stadium by the women of Le Havre, the OL players did what was necessary to forget the cruel European elimination of the week against Chelsea: victory, 7 goals to 0 with… seven different scorers. A csc from Enguehard (10th), then Cayman (14th), Egurrola (32nd), Bruun (41st), Däbritz (63rd), Hegerberg (68th) and Benyahia (70th).

A second resounding victory in a row in D1 for the Lyonnaises, victorious 6-0 from Guingamp last week. These goals count in the standings: the Lyonnaises (49 points) keep a point ahead of PSG (48), but have a much higher goal difference (+ 48 against + 30).

Parisiennes and Lyonnaises will face each other twice in the space of seven days, in May, for two finals: that of the Coupe de France, on May 13, and undoubtedly that of the Championship, during the 21st day, the May 20.
