South American tennis received two bad news on Tuesday: the Argentine Frederick Coria (64th) and the Peruvian John Paul Varillas (89th) announced their casualties for the ATP 250 de Marrakesh.

In the case of the Argentine, he has been suffering from an injury to his right shoulder for some time and preferred to protect himself so as not to risk his physique. It has not yet been confirmed by the tennis player, but there is a possibility that he will not play the Monte-Carlo classification either.

The Peruvian came with discomfort in his right knee that did not allow him to perform at his best in the final of the San Remo Challenger played last week (lost 6-1 and 6-3 to Luca Van Assche). In any case, this drop was only a precaution to reach 100% in the upcoming contests.

It is worth remembering that both tennis players are specialists in clay and will want to score as many points as possible in a long tour made up of the following tournaments: Roland Garros, the Masters 1000 in Monte-Carlo, Madrid and Rome, the ATP 500 in Barcelona and the ATP 250 in Munich, Banja Luka, Geneva and Lyon.

Those who entered as Lucky Loser were the French Hugo Grenier (instead of Coria) and Russian Alexey Vatutin (in replacement of Rods).
