Book auction in CDMX: when and where will it take place? – The Sun of Mexico

under the motto “Save a book, don’t let it be destroyed”the Brigade Para Leer en Libertad will hold the 15th Mexico City Book and Film Auction, an event that will take place at the Monument to the Revolution, from April 5 to 9.

Attendees may attend from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. will be more than 170 exhibitors and 350 publishing labels in 10 tents that will offer books, magazines, comics, movies and records with prices ranging from 10 to 150 pesos.

Paloma Saiz Tejero, director of the Brigade to Read in Freedompointed out at a press conference that the objective of this auction is to save books from the shredders, where they go because there is no law that allows donate books without paying tax for them.

“What are they going to find at the book auction? Those books that have been looking for a long time and that unfortunately, due to the life that a book has, which is very short, usually reaches bookstores, They are placed at the main tables, then they move on to the others, then they make an offer, then there is a balance lying around, and then they end up in the warehouses.

“And this, that life of a book, if it is not a best seller, do not think that it goes beyond a month and a half, two months in which they may go to the warehouse,” he explained.

He stressed that there will be “very specialized” titles whose launch price was between 500 and a thousand pesos and that they can probably find in 100 or 150 pesos.
