Basketball Bundesliga: FC Bayern dreams of a double – basketball

The first step has been taken.

The FC Bayern basketball players qualified early for the playoffs. The sovereign victory at the Würzburg Baskets (67:49) on the 27th day of the BBL was the seventh in a row and secured participation in the final round. Also already there: record champions Alba Berlin and Bonn.

The dream of the double is alive!

But will Bayern manage the second double in their history?

The form of the team coached by Andrea Trinchieri (54) is currently impressive in the league, also because they defend particularly well. For Trainer-Vulkan Trinchieri, the key to success is currently clear: “We’re playing very good defense towards the end of the regular season,” says the coach.

Bayern have already celebrated the title this year: The cup victory in February (against Oldenburg) is still tailwind.

At that time, Bayern President Herbert Hainer (68) said: “It was the first title, the second is still pending. The pressure releases positive energy, you could see that.”

Since being promoted to the highest German basketball league in 2011, Bayern have always reached the playoffs, and in 2018 there was the first double. No finals without Bayern!

The next few weeks will be decisive: In the Euroleague, where the team around national player Andreas Obst (26) missed the final round, there is still one game to go. After that it’s seven more times in the league. In mid-May it all starts with the playoffs and title hunt – the double firmly in sight.
