BASEBALL: Ranelagh Paris Baseball Club, back to competition and on the front of the stage!

The RANELAGH PARIS BASEBALL CLUB is the oldest baseball club in France (date of creation: 1913), at the origin of the first baseball leagues and of the French Federation of Baseball and Softball (FFBS, created in 1924 by the journalist Frantz REICHEL).

– the 1st baseball club in the world in the history of the Olympic Games to have performed an official baseball demonstration on the occasion of the 1924 Paris Olympics (see press article in attached). In 2024, a hundred years later, we are therefore preparing a symbolic ”heritage” event for the JOP 2024, with the ambition of setting up an eco-responsible baseball field (the 1st in Europe) on the playground. of Bagatelle in Paris!

The RANELAGH PARIS BASEBALL CLUB was reconstituted in 2021 in Auteuil (Paris 16th), under the aegis of a group of passionate and experienced baseball players (ex D1 players, French teams, internationals, state patents, …), French and international (10 nationalities).

Our global project is supported by public and private institutional partners with the main objective of developing and spreading the knowledge and practice of baseball in the west of Paris.

Franco-American friendship, sport, culture and heritage are the DNA of the RANELAGH PARIS BASEBALL CLUB, which makes it a unique sports association!

110 years later… the RANELAGH PARIS BASEBALL CLUB takes over the Paris Championship at Auteuil!

The RANELAGH PARIS BASEBALL CLUB celebrates the 110th anniversary of its creation in 1913 and returns to the front of the stage for its ”first” participation in the Parisian Championship. See you on Sunday April 9 between 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. for his first home game against the Web’s of Noisy! In the heart of the Hippodrome d’Auteuil on the rugby pitch of the Stade Français fitted out for the occasion – FREE ENTRY –

The RANELAGH PARIS BASEBALL CLUB, the oldest French club, was reconstituted in 2021 with the support of the town hall of the 16th arrondissement, under the impetus of Bertrand Maire, a former high-level player, and a group of French and foreign practitioners. passionate and experienced. The RANELAGH registered in 2023 its team in the departmental championship 75 to face the PUC, the Patriot’s, the ESC Paris15 and the Web’s!

After 7 friendly matches in 2022 and a public exhibition against the PUC on the grounds of the Hippodrome d’Auteuil last September, it is for these seasoned veterans to officially take up the bat again and this time for a full season! Of the thirty players recruited, there are now 10 different nationalities of baseball: North Americans (USA), South Americans (Mexico, Panama, Dominican Republic, Cuba) but also Australians, Koreans, Dutch, Japanese. Players for the most part who have practiced at a high level and who take up the challenge of resuming competition. There is even a player from the Taiwan women’s national team who practices regularly with the boys and who was part of the organizing committee for the 2023 World Baseball Classic which has just ended!

Objectives for 2023: promote, ensure the development and influence of their favorite sport, bring together more and more baseball nations in Paris and win the Paris Championship to move up to the regional level as quickly as possible.

Based on an approach that combines sport, local heritage, heritage and culture, the club is structured and displays a development strategy over three years (2023-25) which could take it to the top level quickly.

If, like all French baseball players, they regret that baseball is not present at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, a historical detail has not escaped the attention of the current leaders of RANELAGH: on the occasion of the 1924 Paris Olympics , the RANELAGH PARIS BASEBALL CLUB was the first team in the world, in the history of the Olympic Games, to give an official baseball demonstration!

In 2024, 100 years later, the RANELAGH therefore aims, with the support of the Town Hall of the 16th arrondissement, the American Embassy and a set of public and private institutional partners, to symbolically redo this founding demonstration!

And for a demonstration you need a field! So it is with a legitimate heritage discourse that the leaders of RANELAGH meet the elected officials of Paris and the west of Paris with a clear project: to set up on the playground of Bagatelle, the historic stronghold of baseball in France, the first field of eco-responsible baseball in Europe to turn this still poorly exploited Parisian green lung into a French-style “Central Park”, which would bring together sport and culture in a single model for everyone! Baseball in mind!
