Badminton Soria achieves permanence in the First National Silver

The Soria-CS24 Badminton Club has more than met the goal set at the beginning of the season of remaining in the first silver national division. Being one of the most modest clubs in the category, the seventh final place obtained has placed it in the middle zone of the classification, with which it will repeat the category for the next season.

With a somewhat hesitant start, the Soria squad went from less to more in the development of the competition, leaving very good feelings for the 2023/24 campaign.

The last appointment took place in Cartagena with the last three confrontations in which, with the permanence he virtually achieved, he achieved two wins in the three confrontations played that placed the Sorianos in the seventh final position.

The first match faced the affiliate of Club Badminton Benalmádena, a match that resulted in five victories to two for the Malaga team. The wins for the Soria squad were obtained by the women’s singles by Nora Martínez and Ainhoa ​​Larraya.

On Saturday afternoon a new subsidiary was waiting for them, in this case from the powerful Badminton Club of Rinconada de Sevilla. In this confrontation, the Sorianos obtained the victory with special prominence of Nora Martínez and Daniela Corchón who achieved victories in their singles and in the doubles that they played together. With a tie at three, Javier Barrios gave the final victory by winning his individual match.

The last league match of this season’s edition faced Club Badminton Astures. The Sorianos did not give an option with the wins in five of the seven games to be played. Once again the women’s double by Daniela Corchón and Nora Martínez, the men’s double by Javier Barrios with David Hernansanz, and the singles by Ainhoa ​​Larraya, Daniela Corchón and Víctor Ortega rounded off Club Badminton Soria-CS24’s performance in its journey through the national league .

The Soriano coach, Vítor Ortega, was “tremendously proud” of the work done and the effort and dedication of his players. With one of the great objectives of the season achieved and with a few weeks of less load in training, there are still great tournaments until the summer period with the presence of club players.

Victory Ranking

The weekend was completed with the presence of six players from Soria in the scoring tournament for the national ranking that was held in Vitoria.

The two players from AD89 from El Burgo de Osma were full of victories in the doubles modalities. Cristina Puebla and Sergio Latorre from Burgos took gold in the mixed double modality and Sergio himself, with Jon Hernandez from Bilbao, took the victory by beating Manuel Acero and Santiago Martínez from Sorianos.

The last Soriano triumph would be obtained by Santiago Martínez in the individual modality, in which his partner Manuel Acero reached the semifinals.

In addition to the seniors, U13 players who competed among the U15s also attended to gain experience and presence in the ranking of the higher category. Despite the age difference, Jimena Ayllón from Soria would be classified in third position in the singles category, the same position as that achieved by Jimena herself together with Aarón Barrera in the mixed double box.
