ATP Munich: Van de Zandschulp beats Fritz

Botic of the Sand Scallop reached the final of the ATP Tour 250 tournament in an exciting match like last year. The Dutchman defeated Taylor Fritz with 6:4 and 7:6 (2) and meets the defending champion tomorrow Holger Rune.

Munich did not get the final of the two top seeds, but at least a repeat of the final from 2022. After defending champion Holger Rune was able to defeat Christopher O’Connell 6: 3 and 6: 2, Botic van de Zandschulp won against Taylor Fritz with 6: 4 and 7: 6 (2). A year ago, the Dutchman had to give up in the first set.

After winning the first set, Van de Zandschulp was already in the lead with a break in the second round. But then Fritz made a comeback and, as a setback, even had two chances to equalize the set. In the tie-break, however, van de Zandschulp got off to a better start. And was allowed to cheer right after his first match point.
