Astillero hosts a karate championship and a judo championship this weekend

The La Cantábrica de Astillero pavilion will live two days of martial arts this weekend with the dispute of two consecutive karate and judo championships that will break participation records.

The first of the sports events will be the Vl Astillero Karate Trophy, which will be held throughout the day on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The pavilion will be filled with karate fighters in an edition with more than 60 clubs from all over Spain.

A day later, karate will give way to judo with the dispute of the XXV Spanish Cup of Judo San José – IX Memorial Alberto Coterillo.

This benchmark competition on the national scene acquires the category of the Spanish Cup, in an edition that will be held on Sunday at 10:00 a.m., according to the City Council in a statement.

The Councilor for Sports, Alejandro Hoz, expressed his satisfaction “with a promising weekend in which martial arts will be the protagonists thanks to two major competitions both in our municipality and throughout Spain.”

According to the mayor, this year there is “an important leap in quality” in both championships, since more than 2,000 athletes will parade through the municipality, making them the largest editions since they were organized.

In addition, on Sunday afternoon the exhibition of the students of the Rhythmic Gymnastics school will take place on the occasion of the patron saint festivities. It will also be in the La Cantábrica Pavilion starting at 6:00 p.m.
