Assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis is scheduled for Saturday’s game between Preston and Blackburn in the Championship, the English second division. The professional was involved in a controversy with defender Andy Robertson, from Liverpool, in the match of the Reds against Arsenal, on the last day 9 of April.
On the occasion, Hatzidakis hit an elbow close to Robertson’s face at the end of the first half of the game and caused outrage from athletes and fans. The assistant was provisionally suspended pending an investigation into the Football Associationwhich concluded that the professional did not commit any infraction.
The English assistant also said that he already apologized to Robertson through a video call.
The return of Hatzidakis in the Premier League is already scheduled and will take place in the match between Leeds United and Leicester, next Tuesday at 4 pm (Brasília time), in a direct dispute against relegation. The referee will be the VAR assistant for this game.
