Andrew Wiggins to make a comeback with the Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors can apparently look forward to a real reinforcement shortly before the start: According to information from ESPN Andrew Wiggins is about to return.

Accordingly, Wiggins could return to the Bay Area within the next 24 hours. Adrian Wojnarowski reported this on Monday, citing internal sources. When exactly he will be able to play for the defending champion again is still unclear.

Wiggins has missed the last 22 games due to a family matter, no details are available. However, he is said to have kept fit on his own. Warriors coach Steve Kerr and stars like Stephen Curry had recently expressed the hope that he could return this season, but there was no timetable for that.

The 28-year-old was a key piece in the Warriors’ title journey last season, signing a four-year contract extension in the offseason. He’s averaged 17.1 points and 5 rebounds per game this season (39.6 percent from the three-point line).

Depending on his fitness level, Wiggins could then be used in the remaining three games of the regular season. How big his training deficit is will only become clear after his return to the team. Here’s what the remaining Dubs schedule looks like:

  • Night of April 5: Oklahoma City Thunder (H)
  • Night of April 8: Sacramento Kings (A)
  • 9. April: Portland Trail Blazers (A)

The further schedule depends on whether the Warriors can defend one of the top 6 places in the Western Conference and thus avoid the play-in tournament.
