Aaron Rodgers traded to New York Jets

Pending departure since the end of the 2022 season, Aaron Rodgers is transferred to the New York Jets with whom he will play the coming year.

It was a serious possibility, and it’s now official: Aaron Rogers will play for the New York Jets in 2023. Openly ready to leave the Green Bay Packers, a franchise where he has been playing since 2005, the veteran quarterback leaves his lifelong team with which he seemed cold since last season.

To lure Aaron Rodgers, the Jets dropped 2023 second and sixth round picks, a 2024 second round pick (which can become a first round pick if Aaron Rodgers plays more than 65% of the 2023 season’s games), and traded his 13th pick of the 2023 Draft for the Packers’ 15th pick. In addition to the quarterback, New York also picks up a fifth-round pick in the 2023 draft.

The end of an era

The departure of Aaron Rodgers marks the end of an era in Green Bay. Drafted in 24th position in the 2005 Draft, the quarterback had been a starter since the 2008 season. With the Packers, he distinguished himself by being MVP four times, but above all by winning Super Bowl XLV in 2011 against the Pittsburgh Steelers ( 31-25).

Letting go of Aaron Rodgers, who still had four years on his contract, the Green Bay Packers are launching a new cycle, surely with young Jordan Love as quarterback. Conversely, the New York Jets change in size and become one of the scarecrows of the American Conference (AFC). And are now part of the title contenders from the 2023 season.

The words “Minnesota Miracle” and “No-Call” are scratched from my vocabulary. My heart mourns the retirement of Drew Brees and the loneliness of RJ Barrett in Madison Square Garden.
