A national championship of Archery and another of Diving will bring together 550 athletes from Spain and abroad in Cáceres

Around 250 archers from Spain, Germany, Brazil and Portugal will gather this weekend at the III ‘Iberdrola’ Spanish Grand Prix for Archery ‘Ciudad de Cáceres’, which will take place in the Ciudad Deportiva Cáceres, where about 300 will be concentrated

The archery tournament, organized by the Royal Spanish Archery Federation, Extremadura and the Club Arqueros San Jorge. It was presented this Tuesday by the Councilor for Sports, Paula Rodríguez Pallero, together with the managing director of the Youth and Sports Foundation, Sonia Bejarano; and the president of the Club Arqueros San Jorge, José Luis Lázaro, who have encouraged the people of Cáceres to attend “this unique event in the city”.

Lázaro has highlighted that there are four Grand Prix in Spain and, of the three organized so far, it is the one with the most participation.

Specifically, 26 archers come from Extremadura, which shows the “relevance” of this event for archery, for Cáceres and for the club, Lázaro pointed out.

Admission is free and on Saturday there will be a morning and afternoon session. In the evening there will be the playoffs by clubs.

And on Sunday in the morning session the individual qualifiers will be held. National and Extremadura champions will attend, such as the laureate Fátima Agudo.

For his part, Bejarano has thanked the support of institutions and sponsors because thanks to public-private collaboration they can carry out projects that position the region very well both at a sports level and at a complete experience level.

“From the General Directorate of Sports we promote and are committed to this type of event and sports modalities that are minority, and that are less and less because there is a lot of activity, which means that there are more people who want to practice them,” he indicated. bejarano

Diving Championship

Next weekend Cáceres will also become the national epicenter of competition diving, with the celebration this Saturday, April 29, of three competitions in one day: the XVI Extremadura Championship, the XVI Open de Extremadura Diputación de Cáceres Trophy and the II Spanish Cup Day of the Iberdrola Women’s League, organized by the Extremadura Federation of Underwater Activities (Fexas).

The Councilor for Sport of the Cáceres City Council has indicated that “four clubs from our town will meet at this event (CB Sonar, AD Pecesgordos, AD Ranos and Vivevien), as well as other clubs from Extremadura from Plasencia, Navalmoral de la Nata and Merida”.

Likewise, clubs from other autonomous communities such as Cantabria, Castilla y León, the Valencian Community, Andalusia and with the participation of neighboring Portugal will be present.

The competitions will be held in the Ciudad Deportiva de Cáceres, in the Sports Technification Center where, after the protocol acts and the athletes’ warm-up, three tests of the national circuit will be held in the morning: M-100 Fedas, Emersión 6Kg/50m and Octopus 50m (event in pairs).

The day will continue in the afternoon with the Solo 50m Obstacle tests and Briefing, a test in teams of four divers to, later, carry out the awarding of trophies and closing.

Rodríguez has highlighted the successes achieved in the I Day of the Spanish Cup held in Torrelavega (Cantabria) “where our CB Sonar athletes from Cáceres achieved second place in teams.”

“We encourage the people of Cáceres to come to the Sports Technification Center to discover this sport and to support and encourage our athletes, who will undoubtedly do everything possible to consolidate the successes of the past”, the mayor asserted.
