Youngsters of the 1st Fulda JC win ten medals in Petersberg

Petersberg (oz/pf) – The Rauschenberg tournament took place on the Petersberg last weekend for the 22nd time. With over 490 participants from 60 clubs from all over Germany, there was a strong presence in the various age and weight classes. The 1st Fulda Judo Club was happy about four silver and six bronze medals.

On Saturday, the judoka of the age groups U13 and U16 started first. In the U13 male came Adrian Schenkel (-50kg), Julius Ruppel (-46kg), Ivan Federenko (-43kg) and Cord Schmidt (-37kg) and in the U13 female Marharyta Sharova (-40kg) and Lea Rudolphi (-52kg) for use. All Fulda judoka showed strong fights and a great variety of techniques, unfortunately not all of them were able to assert themselves in the strong field of participants and win a medal. Marharyta Sharova was happy about a silver medal, after three wins she had to admit defeat in the final against Joy Pisa from JC Wächtersbach in the golden score. The bronze medal went to Ivan Federenko, who lost after two victories in the semifinals and then won the small final against Lukas Stock (HTG Bad Homburg) by winning with a hold. Adrian Schenkel, who also only had to admit defeat in the semifinals, was happy about another bronze medal. In the fight for bronze against Joshua Wagner (JSK Rodgau), he first achieved a Waza-Ari rating and was able to claim victory with a subsequent hold. Lea Rudolphi also showed great fighting spirit and contributed another bronze medal to Fulda’s success by beating Renee Marie Ehmer (JC Kodokan Bad Salzungen). Cord Schmidt and Julius Ruppel fought for strong seventh and ninth places.

In the male U16 four Fulda judoka started on Saturday. With Fabian Hohmann (-55kg) as the oldest year, the three age group newcomers Ben Hartmann (-37kg), Max Schlaudraff (-46kg) and Maximilian Michel (-50kg) had an experienced competitor at their side. Fabian Hohmann marched with three victories through his weight class -55kg with 14 participants and only had to admit defeat to his Hessen squad training partner Dmytro Matuznyi from JC-Petersberg in the final and won a silver medal. Another silver medal was won by Ben Hartmann, who, after two wins that day, only lost to Jonah Leibold (HTG Bad Homburg) in the final due to a choking technique. Bronze went to Maximilian Michel, who, as the youngest in the -50kg weight class, after two wins and one loss, won the fight for third place against Arthur Damer (TSG Blau-Gold Gießen) with an Ippon (throw) that is well worth seeing. In the heavily occupied weight class -46kg, Max Schlaudraff was able to win a strong 7th place.

On Sunday, four junior judokas from the 1st Fuldaer JC were on the mat in the U11 age group. In the weight-related groups with four participants each, the first tournament air could be sniffed and competition experience could be gained. With three victories, Jan Hartmann (-33.5kg) won a silver medal, like his brother Ben the day before. Julius Michel (-27.2kg) and Leo Schlaudraff (-34.1kg) each won a bronze medal. Another bronze medal contributed Finley Milnes (38.3kg), who had to end the tournament prematurely after an injury.

In the absence of trainer Thiel, the Fulda judoka were looked after by Eric Schlaudraff and Stefanie Rudolphi, who were actively supported by their parents. Everyone agreed that the young athletes have developed well over the past six months and now have a great portfolio of techniques, which they know how to use better and better.
