WTA Indian Wells: Teichmann stops in round of 32 – rts.ch

Two days after beating Belinda Bencic (WTA 9), Jil Teichmann (39) failed to confirm. In the round of 16 of the Indian Wells Masters 1000, the Seelandaise lost 3-6 6-3 6-1 against the Swedish qualifier Rebecca Peterson (103).

Teichmann, after winning the 1st set, gradually lost the thread of her game. The loss of the 2nd set visibly hurt her mentally, because she then completely let go in the deciding set against an opponent who had to go through qualifications to enter the main draw of this WTA 1000 tournament.

It remains that this result does not necessarily constitute a huge surprise for the specialists. Rebecca Peterson had indeed recently played in the final of a WTA tournament in Mexico. Faced with Teichmann, the Swede was notably better on her 1st serve, with a success percentage of 71% against only 54% for the Seelander.
