Former SC Heerenveen player Rajiv van La Parra has signed a contract with Almere City FC. The 31-year-old winger signs a contract until the end of the season with an option to extend for the 2023-2024 season.

Van La Parra will play for the last time in Greece with Apollon Smyrnis. In the youth of Feyenoord he was noticed by SM Caen, where he played for a total of three years. Then he left for SC Heerenveen. He made his breakthrough in Friesland, after which an adventurous career followed. Van La Parra played for Wolverhampton, Brighton & Hove Albion, Huddersfield Town, Middlesbrough, Red Star Belgrade, UD Logrones, Würzburger Kicker and Apollon.

In Greece, his contract was terminated in February 2022. Now Almere City is taking a gamble with him. “It all starts with ambition and the drive to get the best out of yourself every day. The club’s story therefore fits my story very well. I was looking for a club to get back to playing football and the click at Almere City FC was there right away. If you see what is happening here to improve as a club every day, you can only be in awe of it,” Van La Parra said on the website of his new club.
