Valuable draw at home against Marítimo

AIFI drew 0-0 against Marítimo La Guaira for matchday 3 of the FUTVE 2 League in the Central-Oriental group. This is the second tie for the red and black in the current championship, the first at home.

first time locked

The match began with a slow pace of play. AIFI took to the field to propose high pressure from the first minute, in addition to printing the speed that characterizes Pomonti’s approach.

The visit could not find the spaces to play their game, so they resorted to hitting the ball in search of the back of the Guayanese central defenders, but Cabrera’s hands were present at all times.

AIFI tried with a couple of shots: Ángel Hernández at minute 3′; and Jeferson Caraballo from a free kick at 14 ‘, but without much luck, so he was diverted from the visit goal.

Marítimo’s response was at 19′. A quick transition move down the right flank left César González unmarked and he fired hard from below but Cabrera, once again, continued his good work under the three sticks.

Minutes later, at 22′, Carlos Gorrochotegui did one of his geniuses on the left flank, he removed the rival’s mark and took the shot, but it went wide of the maritime arc.

The next arrival of the rojinegros was at 33′, with a deflected shot over the rival goal by Ángel Hernández, again. The match took a back and forth rhythm, but it was not enough for the ironmongers to open the scoring.

With few incidents and a complicated game, the principal whistled the end of the first part.

Complicated second half

The second part of the commitment began just as the first half ended. Both teams went out to the CTE Cachamay grass with the same approach.

From one moment to the next, friction arrived at the night clash and with it the yellow cards. César González, a Marítimo La Guaira player, saw the first card of the complement at 47′.

AIFI continued in search of the first goal that would give him peace of mind on the scoreboard. At 54′ José Rondón tried a shot at Rodríguez’s goal, but the goalkeeper stopped it to keep his fence unbeaten.

At minute 61′, the red and blacks had a chance again after a great individual play by Jeferson Caraballo, but the visitor’s gloved hands reappeared after the shot that was saved without complications.

Then the friction was present again in the duel. The fouls stopped the dynamics and made the playing field tense, until Hidalgo was sent off at 79′ for sharply cutting off an attacking play by AIFI. Marítimo played with 10 in the last bars of the game.

Minutes passed and Pomonti’s men couldn’t find a way to get into the rival area. A new long-distance shot from Urrieta worried the visitors a bit, but the ball went far down the right downspout.

Without further ado, Héctor Arrieta pointed to the middle of the field to indicate the end of the match at CTE Cachamay. AIFI’s second draw in the FUTVE 2 League and first at home.

With this, the red and black reached five points in the standings, while the visit only has two units.

The next meeting of the hardware stores will be on Saturday, April 1 against Nueva Esparta FC at Cancha La Victoria, as visitors, for the fourth day of the Central-Eastern group.
