The relegation of Badminton Benalmádena and other results of the Malaga sports center

Paracuellos 5 Benalmadena 1
Benalmádena has not been able to avoid being relegated to the silver category of national badminton 17 years later. The changes in the regulations made a dent in the planning of the season, since the obligation that national and foreign players had to play four games of the regular phase to be able to be in the ‘play-offs’ greatly reduced the options of the from Malaga, who each year saw how difficult or impossible it was to go to the market in the face of the economic power of their rivals. Benalmádena competed in Paracuellos with the only five players who could play the match. Lucas Quirós lined up Elena Lorenzo and Laxman Martínez in the mixed doubles, a match in which the Madrid side lined up Frances Simon Baron and the Cypriot Eleni Christodoulou who won 11-7, 11-10 and 11-9. The Malaga club did not presented women’s doubles and, then, Malthe Nielsen and Laxman Martínez lost 11-10, 10-11,11-8, 4-11 and 11-6 against Marco Fernández and Alejandro de Pablo. The defeat was already almost sealing the defeat, since in the women’s singles nº2 Eleni Christoodoulou crossed with Lucía Galvín, who could do nothing against the rival power.
