The Ecuador national team will be led by the former coach of the Qatar national team, Sanchez

Sanchez has signed an agreement with the FEF until the 2026 World Cup finals, which will be hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico.

The 47-year-old Spaniard previously managed Qatar, who failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup finals. The national team of Ecuador, which started the final tournament with a 2-0 victory over the host Qatar, also failed to reach the round of 16.

Sanchez has been the head coach of the Qatar national team since 2017.

Sanchez will replace the Argentinean Gustavo Alfaro at the helm of the Ecuador national team, who led the Ecuadorian national team from August 2020. Under his leadership, the Ecuador national team returned to the World Cup after a one-cycle break.
