Tennis, Martina Navratilova: “I no longer have cancer” – Tennis

“As far as the doctors know, I am cured of cancer.” With these words Martina Navratilova announced that she had won one of the most important battles of her life. The former world number one had revealed in January the return of stage 1 breast and throat cancer that had already affected her in 2010.

“I panicked for three days when I found out thinking that I might not see next Christmas – revealed the Czech champion to the British journalist Piers Morgan of TalkTV -. Now, after another two weeks of preventive radiotherapy, I will be free to go”. Navratilova said she noticed the enlargement of a lymph node in her neck during the WTA Finals in Fort Worth in November and, after several checks, that she discovered a first-stage papillomavirus, one of the types for which treatment has the best chance of success.

In an emotional interview Navratilova revealed that she was so scared that she made her to-do list before she died. “I came up with the to-do list, with everything I wanted to do-she revealed-And it may seem very superficial, but I thought to myself: ‘What luxury car do I really want to drive if I live a year ?”.
