Stach and Petersen in DFB action

Dhe Bundesliga pros Anton Stach and Nils Petersen experienced the difficulties of being a referee firsthand during their trip to the whistle. “In summary, I would say that it was overwhelming,” said Stach after his 45-minute appearance on Saturday in the Rheinhessen district league.

“My watch is still running, I forgot to turn it off,” explained the man from Mainz, adding: “It’s an incredible amount of responsibility.” They love their hobby, they do it, and I absolutely cannot understand the fact that you are approached for it.”

Aytekin: “The boys were flawless”

After the change of sides, Petersen (SC Freiburg) took over the whistle in the match between VfR Nierstein and TSV Mommenheim (6:0). Bundesliga referee Deniz Aytekin supported the duo from the sidelines. And he liked what he saw. “What the boys delivered today was simply flawless,” said Aytekin: “Respect for the seriousness with which the two did it, with what appreciation too.”

With the campaign, the German Football Association (DFB) wants to advertise the office of referee, especially in the lower classes, the loss is not only worrying for Aytekin: “I’m really worried that at some point we won’t be able to fill the amateur games anymore .”
