28-year-old arrested after shots in Berlin-Charlottenburg
Several shots were fired near Berlin’s Kurfürstendamm on Wednesday evening. According to the police, several people were injured. A suspect was arrested and injured. We are looking for other participants.
After several shots were fired in Berlin-Charlottenburg on Wednesday and at least three people were injured, the police are investigating. A suspect was arrested, others involved are on the run, the police said on Thursday morning. The background to the fact is still unclear. The area has been cordoned off extensively.
The police moved out on Wednesday at around 5:15 p.m. to Dahlmannstrasse between Kurfürstendamm and the Charlottenburg S-Bahn station because shots had been fired there. Accordingly, two injured people were taken to hospitals.
Arrested has injuries
Police said Thursday morning the injured were two men, ages 26 and 28, who suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to their legs. They remained lying on the sidewalk while others involved fled. In addition, at least one other man is said to have been injured by blunt force. In addition to firearms, striking tools are said to have been used in the altercation.
According to the police, the arrested suspect is a 28-year-old man who also suffered injuries, probably from blunt force. Whether he fired remains to be determined as he was not carrying a gun. Further suspects are being sought on suspicion of dangerous bodily harm.
SEK searched adjacent houses
According to the first findings of the police on Wednesday, there should have been an argument between several people on the street, in which at least one firearm was used, the police said on Twitter. The police were still on site with a large contingent in the evening. The special task force (SEK) searched for the suspects with heavily armed forces in neighboring houses. There was a suspicion that someone could be hiding there.
