NBA: Davis leads Lakers to vital win with monster performance – US SPORTS NBA BASKETBALL

Important away win for the Lakers!

In the battle for the playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers have achieved an important away win over their direct competitor from New Orleans. The Lakers prevailed against the Pelicans with 123:108 and were thus able to set themselves apart from their direct competitor. With 34 wins and 35 losses, the NBA record champion is now in ninth place and has drawn level with the Dallas Mavericks. The Texans are in eighth place, both teams meet on Friday in Los Angeles.

Without the still injured superstar LeBron James (38), the Lakers played an outstanding first half. They hit 15 threes – an internal record. At half time it was 75:40. Shortly after the break, the lead even grew to 40 points. The Lakers then let the game slide a bit and so the Pelicans got closer again without jeopardizing the Lakers’ victory. The outstanding player of the game was Lakers superstar Anthony Davis (30), who had 35 points and 17 rebounds. National team captain Dennis Schröder (29) only had three points, two rebounds and three assists.

Orlando disappointed, Bucks are in the playoffs

The evening went less well for the Wagner brothers. In the 114:132 defeat against the San Antonio Spurs, Franz Wagner scored 11 points, his brother Moritz added 12 points. Losing to one of the league’s worst teams came as a surprise and dampened the small hopes that Orlando still had in the play-in race.

After the 116:104 at the Phoenix Suns, the Milwaukee Bucks are the first team to qualify for the playoffs. Giannis Antetokounmpo (28) scored 36 points for the current best team in the league, who became the first team to reach 50 wins this season.
