The Spanish cyclist Sergio Martín, from the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA team from Navarre, is admitted to a hospital after being run over last Tuesday when he was training the time trial specialty, and will have to undergo surgery after having five ribs and two fractured vertebrae.
“Our runner Sergio Martín remains hospitalized after suffering a serious accident on Tuesday morning while training. The Madrid cyclist collided with a vehicle when he was riding his time trial bike near his home in Galapagar (Madrid),” the team announced. Navarrese.
Martín was transferred to Hospital 12 de Octubre, where he is conscious and stable. After undergoing various tests, the fracture of five ribs and two vertebrae has been confirmed, of which he will undergo surgery.
The 26-year-old from Galapagar, who finished in 40th position in the Galician round of O Gran Camiño last February, will remain hospitalized pending evolution and other medical tests.
