Season off for LaMelo Ball
The Charlotte Hornets will be without superstar LaMelo Ball for the remainder of the season. Unarmed, the 21-year-old went down in Monday night’s game against the Detroit Pistons and was unable to continue. An initial diagnosis revealed a broken ankle on the right foot – and with it the premature end of the season. The injury-plagued Hornets have recently started a small winning streak in a completely disappointing season. The end of their point guard should now take the wind out of the sails again and make the view of the last six weeks of the regular season bleak. It’s not Ball’s first ankle injury. At the start of the season, the youngster missed 13 games alone because of an injury to his left foot. Only 3 games after his comeback he got injured again and missed another 11 matches.
Bucks before sale?
The Milwaukee Bucks are reportedly about to change hands. According to ESPN, co-owner Marc Lasry’s franchise or majority interest is up for sale for $3.5 billion. It would be the second-highest sum for an NBA organization of all time, after the Phoenix Suns got a new boss in Mat Ishbia for a good $ 3.8 billion a few weeks ago. As buyers of the Bucks franchise, Dee and Jimmy Haslam may be in the starting blocks. The couple already own the Columbus Crew baseball team and the Cleveland Browns NFL organization. The NBA still has to approve the sale first.
Glue making a comeback
National basketball player Maxi Kleber made his comeback for the Dallas Mavericks last night. Born in Würzburg, he has been out since December with a hamstring injury and was back on the field against the Pacers. In 24 minutes, he had nine points and two assists. In the end, however, 122:124 was the team’s fifth defeat in the last six games. Even 39 points from Luka Doncic could not change this fact.
LeBron is out longer
As several media reports, LeBron James will miss the Los Angeles Lakers for several weeks. Even a season-off cannot be ruled out at the moment. The record scorer has been plagued with various injuries for a long time. The injury on Sunday against the Dallas Mavericks seems to be particularly affecting the 38-year-old. LeBron held his foot there in pain at the end of the third quarter, but kept playing. The concern within the organization is that LeBron can no longer intervene in the rest of the regular season. On his Instagram story, the megastar posted a picture of his right foot with the caption “fucking sucks”. His team is currently in 12th place in the Western Conference – his absence will probably make it much more difficult to reach the postseason. It would be the second year in a row that the Los Angeles Lakers would not be a part of the playoffs.
