Scott Parker doesn’t get the train at Club on track: “Whether I’m still Club Brugge’s trainer in Lisbon? I do not know”

No third win for Scott Parker. However, a heavy 3-0 defeat against Ostend and a twelve out of thirty. Not the numbers that make Bruges happy. The English coach also realizes that. “I don’t get it,” said Parker after the game.

On a visit to KV Oostende, an unrecognizable Club Brugge received a heavy blow. The Kustboys sent the blue-black home empty-handed, but the game delivered in particular caused headaches for coach Scott Parker.

“It went wrong on several levels today,” says Scott Parker. “In the first half there was nothing we had to bring here. There was a lack of intensity and we lacked guts on the ball. That’s pretty much all there is to say about the first half. I do not understand. We played a good game against Ghent, but that was not visible in the first half. We got into the game a little more in the second half. We now have to think hard about how it is that we deliver such a performance after a good performance against Ghent.”

Twelve out of thirty

Parker could only win twice at blue-black. Not the numbers for which he was brought to Bruges. “Twelve out of thirty is not enough”, Parker also knows. “Expectations are higher. I am here after a surprising 3-0 defeat. I can’t live up to those expectations yet. That’s disappointing. However, there are certain parts of our game that are good, but there are also many that are not. That has been a problem all season.”

“I still believe I can turn the tide. This is a challenge. A battle ahead of me. These are moments where we have to stand up as a team. On a professional level, this is a tough challenge for the team. It’s times like these that you have to show character. Now we have to work as hard as we can to turn this around. That will show how good we are as a club. Whether I am still a coach of Club Brugge in Lisbon? I don’t know, at the moment I’m trying to prepare the team as best as possible for that game.”
