Quarter-final objective for Victor Perez who is eyeing the world top 50!

Victor Perez’s 45th place in Palm Harbor, Florida did not allow the French number 1 to get closer to the world rankings as he wanted. Despite a gain of two ranks, the Tarbais is obliged to strike a blow in Austin this week to appear on the list of last minute guests of the Augusta Masters.

In the top 20 of the world hierarchy, it is the full status quo or almost.

No changes to report in the top 10 after the Florida Swing’s final stop in Innisbrook.

Only the American Cameron Young and English Tyrrell Hatton swapped positions in the top 20. One place better for the little English “grumpy” and one place lost for the rookie of the year 2022.

The French

Among the French, eyes are riveted on the average points of Victor Perez which goes from 1.6592 to 1.6551.

In decline, therefore, following its performance in Valspar Championship which only earns him 0.90 points to be divided by 46 (his number of tournaments). However, he takes advantage of the inexorable fall of the former world number 1 Dustin Johnson left on the LIFE Golf in June 2022, and the missed cut ofAdam Hadwin to grab two places.

Next Sunday, its divisor will go from 46 to 47 and his average will be greatly impacted with a potential loss of almost 5/10ths of a point.

To reach the 1.92 that the current 50th in the standings will have, Talor Gooch next week, Perez must therefore collect more than 14 points in Austin and that is equivalent to make it to the quarter-finals.

Be careful because this could even turn out to be insufficient if the value of the field, still to be calculated, is lower than expected. And in case of good performances of his rivals in the final sprint, all better classified than him (JT Poston, Adam Svensson, Adrian Meronk, Lucas Herbert, Taylor Montgomery, Denny McCarthy, Rickie Fowler, Mackenzie Hughes).

Only a semi-final guarantees him 100% of returning to the top 50.

Note that the good results of Antoine Rozner et Matthew Pavon in South Africa this Sunday result in a respective leap of 9 and 14 places in the standings.
