Punished by FIFA, Paratici Leave from Tottenham

London

Fabio Paratici is currently appealing against FIFA’s ban. Therefore, Paratici first took leave from Tottenham Hotspur.

Paratici, who holds the position of Sports Director of The Lilywhites, was banned from activities in Italian football by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). He is considered to be one of the figures responsible for Juventus’ transfer manipulation, which saw the Turin club punished with a 15-point deduction.

FIFA then asked the FIGC to extend the scope of the 30 month sentence to the entire world and finally granted it. That means Paratici is prohibited from carrying out his job at Tottenham at this time.

Of course this sanction will trouble Paratici and Tottenham because there is a lot of work to be done until the end of this season, as well as preparations for next summer. Moreover, Tottenham will be looking for a new manager after sacking Antonio Conte.

Therefore, Paratici chose to leave until the time limit was not determined, in order to focus on processing the appeal against his sanctions. Paratici did choose to appeal so that the sentence could be revoked or at least the duration reduced.

Paratici will meet with the FIGC on April 19 to find out the outcome of his appeal.

“Regarding FIFA’s decision, Fabio has agreed with the club to take a temporary leave of absence pending the outcome of his appeal,” Tottenham said in a statement.

Tottenham Hotspur are indeed in a squeeze regarding their chances of finishing in the top four. Tottenham in fourth position are now only two points ahead of Newcastle United in fifth position who have one game remaining.
