PSG Handball: a summer tour of Japan on the program for Parisians

Off to Japan! Like their football counterparts last year, PSG handball players will set down their suitcases in the land of the Rising Sun this summer. The Parisian club announced on Wednesday the holding of its first summer tour in Japan, which will take place from Thursday July 27 to Thursday August 3 and which will be part of the preparation for its next season.

Raul Gonzalez’s men will take up residence in Tokyo, where they will be able to use the facilities of the Ajinomoto Training Center for their training, while two preparation matches will be organized at the Ariake Arena (12,000 spectators). The modern enclosure built for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics will host a match against Zeekstar Tokyo on August 1, where Luc Abalo ended his career. The identity of the second opponent to be met by PSG on August 2 is not yet known.

“A unique opportunity to promote handball in Japan”

The historical presence of PSG Handball players on Japanese soil will also shine the spotlight on the discipline as well as on the professional league in Japan which is preparing to welcome the Zeekstar. Various operations will be organized during this Japanese week.

“We are very happy to see this Paris Saint-Germain Handball tour project in Japan come to fruition and look forward to taking part in it,” said Thierry Omeyer, General Manager. I would like to thank the Zeekstar and Future club for this collaboration as part of our preparation for the 2023-2024 season, which will allow us to discover Japanese culture and meet the club’s supporters. This partnership also represents a unique opportunity to promote handball in Japan and encourage the expansion of a discipline that is attracting more and more players across the country. »

Japan should, moreover, most likely welcome PSG footballers this summer on the occasion of a new summer tour.
