Penguins wanted Miller, not Granlund

Many people were surprised by the acquisition of Mikael Granlund by the Penguins from Pittsburgh on Wednesday, and with good reason.

Is that Granlund was not the first choice of training from Pennsylvania, far from it.

“We wanted a center player, first indicated Renaud Lavoie, in the evening. Was that the Penguins’ number one pick? Absolutely not. He is a player who has slowed down a lot and who is having a lot of trouble finding the back of the net.

“At the Penguins, we looked at the side of the Canucks. They even contacted these for JT Miller and inquired for Brock Boeser. However, that didn’t materialize and we turned to Granlund.”

During his segment, Renaud Lavoie also talked about the possibility of seeing Jonathan Quick of the Columbus Blue Jackets and James van Riemsdyk of the Philadelphia Flyers end up with the Vegas Golden Knights.
