The football world mourns the death of Pelayo Novo. Reactions to the event have not been long in coming. The first to speak out was Real Oviedo, his training club, which “deeply regrets the death of Pelayo Novo, our captain of the Foundation”. His former teams, Córdoba, Lugo and Albacete have also sent their condolences to the family and have shown the great affection that is kept in those three cities for the former footballer from Oviedo. “We are devastated. We will always remember a person as special as Pelayo,” said Sporting de Gijón. Other teams on the Asturian and national scene, such as Langreo, Osasuna or Huesca, have issued their messages of condolence, as has LaLiga.
Even Adrián Barbón, president of the Principality, has also added to the expressions of pain and condolences for the tragic loss of the former player, among other teams, of Real Oviedo: “I am left speechless. I know a part of his family well and I am aware of the pain of this moment. My deepest condolences to all of yours, to the people who loved and appreciated him. Rest in peace, Pelayo. Terrible.”
