New world record for Matthieu Bonne: cycled more than 3,600 km in one week

Matthieu Bonne has succeeded in his goal of breaking the cycling world record in seven days. He cycled more 3,619.72 kilometers, the previous record was 3,590 kilometers.

Matthieu Bonne started his attempt to break the world record on March 20. He wanted to cycle as many kilometers as possible in seven days. Before that he went to Phoenix, Arizona.

‘During the Tour de France, the riders cover about 3,600 kilometers in about three weeks. I want to take it one step further by cycling even more in just one week. And that without teammates and competition, because I’m going for the solo record’, Bonne said shortly before his departure.

The current record was 3,590 miles or 512 kilometers per day. Bonne drove a little more kilometers than planned every day. That makes him the new world record holder with 3,619.72 kilometers.

Matthieu Bonne could already be seen in the One program in the past Camp Waes. The Bredenaar has proven in recent years that he is not bored with a stunt. He has already climbed Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and the Eiger, ran the Marathon des Sables, competed in the Ironman, swam across the Channel, cycled around the country and completed eight triathlons in as many days on the eight official Canary Islands. That was also a world record.
