María José Marín finished 11th in the Junior Invitational, on her way to Augusta

María José Marín finished her second time at the Junior Invitational, with a new round over par at the Sage Valley Golf Club in Graniteville (South Carolina, United States).

This Saturday, the woman from Cali signed with 76 shots (+4), picking up two ‘birdies’, on holes 2 and 10, and six ‘bogeys’ in her third outing on the course, falling to 11th place in the general classification.

‘Majo’ was looking for his fourth title of the year, after winning the National Amateur Championship in Mexico, the International Youth Tournament in Peru and the ‘Juan Sebastián Muñoz Cup’ in Bogotá. Now she will continue in the United States her preparation for the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.

The champion of this tournament was Anna Davis, with 209 strokes in total, in the line of seven under par, followed by Nika Ito, with 211, and Kiara Romero, with 216.

Davis, 16, the winner of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur in 2022, chained rounds of 70, 69 and 70 to win the trophy.

In addition to being an ideal stop before reaching the Augusta National Women’s Am, it was also an opportunity for revenge for Marín since in her first participation last year she finished in the 13th box with four strokes over par; when the winner was the Norwegian Amalie Leth-Nissen in the ‘playoff’.

Several of the participants in the Junior Invitational will also be in the select ‘field’ of Augusta, the great objective of the season for ‘Majo’.
